Playing Games at the store
Hi all please read this in full. If there’s something you don’t understand please ask.
With the government easing lockdown further on July 4th to 1m plus for social distancing and allowing many hospitality industries to reopen we feel it’s time to allow gaming in store.
Just as going to the supermarket to buy milk, the pub for a drink or for a haircut is currently different from before lockdown how we game at the store will have to change.
This post contains the information you need to know to game. Please read it in full. If you feel that you can’t follow what is laid out. Or for any reason you don’t want to follow what is laid out then sorry. For the time being you will not be able to game at the store.
Gaming has always been a social contract. Before lockdown if two people agreed to play a game you were agreeing to spend a number of hours in each others company and that you would ensure you both had an enjoyable time.
That still stands. Now there is an added social contract. That you’ll keep each other safe.
Some basics before we go into the how to’s in store. If you have any symptoms of COVID you cannot game. If you knowingly have had contact with anyone who has symptoms of COVID you cannot game.
Initially we will have between 3 & 4 tables available per session to game.
So that we will know who’s been in the store gaming, there’s a possibility this information may be required for track & trace purposes, tables will be booked online. We will be adding an option on the website to book a table for a specific day. Due to cleaning it will be one bookable session per day per table. That session is for 2 people. Those 2 people can play more than one game per session but you cannot swap opponents between games.
We will need to clean down the morning after gaming has taken place in store to allow the next session of gaming to take place. To help facilitate this we will be only be using the vinyl game mats and scenery that’s wipe clean. In effect that’s all plastic scenery, plus the mdf that’s been painted to seal it.
To allow the clean down to take place we will be open for gaming on Wednesday & Thursday nights (opening times will change so we are open until 9) and Saturday during the day. If we game Friday night there’s no time to clean down for Saturday.
For us in the store we are saying that the 1 meter plus precautions are as follows.
We are going to ask that you wear a face covering if you’re 1 meter plus from your opponent.
You only touch your own models, dice, tapes etc.
We will be adding some additional markings to the floor (I’ve brought pink duct tape and I’m going to use it) to separate the gaming area from the shop area.
The 2 customers in the store rule will still apply so we ask if you’re in the gaming area and you want to buy something you wait until there are less than 2 customers in the “shop” before stepping into it.
If we can all follow these rules then we can get back to gaming and hopefully more tables can be opened up.
Thank you for reading this.
Now go get those dice ready to roll!
